Introduction

This is āyah 48 of Sūrat Adh-Dhaariyat (The Winnowing Winds), the 67th sūrah in the traditional order of revelation. It was revealed in the Meccan period and sits within Juzʾ 27. Meccan verses tend to address faith, the oneness of God, and the hereafter.

With Hands We constructed the heaven. Verily, We are able to expand the vastness of space thereof (47)And We have made the earth a Firash; how excellent spreader (thereof) are We (48)And of everything We have created pairs, that you may remember (49)So, flee to Allah. Verily, I am a plain warner to you from Him (50)And set not up any other god along with Allah.
