سُورَةُ النِّسَاءِ · 4:164

وَرُسُلًۭا قَدْ قَصَصْنَٰهُمْ عَلَيْكَ مِن قَبْلُ وَرُسُلًۭا لَّمْ نَقْصُصْهُمْ عَلَيْكَ ۚ وَكَلَّمَ ٱللَّهُ مُوسَىٰ تَكْلِيمًۭا

Saheeh International · EN

And [We sent] messengers about whom We have related [their stories] to you before and messengers about whom We have not related to you. And Allah spoke to Moses with [direct] speech.

Introduction

This is āyah 164 of Sūrat An-Nisaa (The Women), the 92nd sūrah in the traditional order of revelation. It was revealed in the Medinan period and sits within Juzʾ 6. Medinan verses often address community life, law, and the building of society.

Verily, We have sent the revelation to you as We sent the revelation to Nuh and the Prophets after him; We (also) sent the revelation to Ibrahim, Isma'il, Ishaq, Ya'qub, and Al-Asbat, (the offspring of the twelve sons of Ya'qub) 'Isa, Ayyub, Yunus, Harun, and Sulayman; and to Dawud We gave the Zabur (163)And Messengers We have mentioned to you before, and Messengers We have not mentioned to you, and to Musa Allah spoke directly (164)Messengers as bearers of good news and warning, in order that mankind should have no plea against Allah after the (coming of) Messengers.
