Introduction

This is āyah 5 of Sūrat Al-Hadid (The Iron), the 94th sūrah in the traditional order of revelation. It was revealed in the Medinan period and sits within Juzʾ 27. Medinan verses often address community life, law, and the building of society.

He it is Who created the heavens and the earth in six Days and then rose (Istawa) over the Throne. He knows what goes into the earth and what comes forth from it, and what descends from the heaven and what ascends thereto. And He is with you wheresoever you may be. And Allah is the All-Seer of what you do (4)His is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth. And to Allah return all the matters (5)He merges night into day, and merges day into night, and He has full knowledge of whatsoever is in the breasts (6) Allah's Knowledge, Power and Kingdom are Limitless Allah the Exalted states that He created the heavens and earth, and all that is between them, in six Days and then rose over the Throne after He created them.
