Introduction

This is āyah 26 of Sūrat Al-Waaqia (The Inevitable), the 46th sūrah in the traditional order of revelation. It was revealed in the Meccan period and sits within Juzʾ 27. Meccan verses tend to address faith, the oneness of God, and the hereafter.

A multitude of those will be from the first ones (13)And a few of those will be from the later ones (14)(They will be) on thrones, Mawdunah (15)Reclining thereon, face to face (16)Immortal boys will go around them (serving)(17)With cups, and jugs, and a glass of flowing wine (18)Wherefrom neither Yusadda'un nor Yunzifun (19)And with fruit that they may choose (20)And with the flesh of fowls that they desire (21)And (there will be) Hur with wide lovely eyes (22)Like preserved pearls (23)A reward for what they used to do (24)No Laghw (evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (25)But only the saying of: "Salaman!
