سُورَةُ مُحَمَّدٍ · 47:18

فَهَلْ يَنظُرُونَ إِلَّا ٱلسَّاعَةَ أَن تَأْتِيَهُم بَغْتَةًۭ ۖ فَقَدْ جَآءَ أَشْرَاطُهَا ۚ فَأَنَّىٰ لَهُمْ إِذَا جَآءَتْهُمْ ذِكْرَىٰهُمْ

Saheeh International · EN

Then do they await except that the Hour should come upon them unexpectedly? But already there have come [some of] its indications. Then what good to them, when it has come, will be their remembrance?

Introduction

This is āyah 18 of Sūrat Muhammad (Muhammad), the 95th sūrah in the traditional order of revelation. It was revealed in the Medinan period and sits within Juzʾ 26. Medinan verses often address community life, law, and the building of society.

And among them are some who listen to you till when they go out from you, they say to those who have received knowledge: "What is it that he has said just now? "Such are men whose hearts Allah has sealed because they followed their lusts (16)And as for those who accept guidance, He increases them in guidance and bestows on them their Taqwa (17)Do they then await except that the Hour should come upon them suddenly?
