Introduction

This is āyah 85 of Sūrat Saad (The Letter "Saad"), the 38th sūrah in the traditional order of revelation. It was revealed in the Meccan period and sits within Juzʾ 23. Meccan verses tend to address faith, the oneness of God, and the hereafter.

(Remember) when your Lord said to the angels: "Truly, I am going to create man from clay. (71)"So, when I have fashioned him and breathed into him (his) soul created by Me, then you fall down prostrate to him.
