يَٰٓأَبَتِ إِنِّىٓ أَخَافُ أَن يَمَسَّكَ عَذَابٌۭ مِّنَ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ فَتَكُونَ لِلشَّيْطَٰنِ وَلِيًّۭا

O my father, indeed I fear that there will touch you a punishment from the Most Merciful so you would be to Satan a companion [in Hellfire]."

Introduction

This is āyah 45 of Sūrat Maryam (Mary), the 44th sūrah in the traditional order of revelation. It was revealed in the Meccan period and sits within Juzʾ 16. Meccan verses tend to address faith, the oneness of God, and the hereafter.

And mention in the Book, Ibrahim. Verily, he was a man of truth, a Prophet (41)When he said to his father: "O my father! Why do you worship that which hears not, sees not and cannot avail you in anything? (42)"O my father! Verily, there has come to me the knowledge of that which came not unto you.
