Introduction

This is āyah 196 of Sūrat Al-A'raaf (The Heights), the 39th sūrah in the traditional order of revelation. It was revealed in the Meccan period and sits within Juzʾ 9. Meccan verses tend to address faith, the oneness of God, and the hereafter.

Do they attribute as partners to Allah those who created nothing but they themselves are created (191)No help can they give them, nor can they help themselves (192)And if you call them to guidance, they follow you not.
